J.C. WATTS IS HONORARY KEY NOTE SPEAKER
AT CAMPUS CLUBS' 14TH ANNUAL BANQUET

JC WattsThe Campus Clubs Annual Banquet will be held on March 31st at the Macon City Auditorium.  It is with great excitement that we welcome former United States Congressman, Mr. J.C. Watts, Jr., as our keynote speaker.

Currently, Mr. Watts serves as chairman of the J.C. Watts Companies, where he provides focused leadership to the company’s business partnerships, joint ventures, engagements, alliances and initiatives.  Watts Partners, a division of J.C. Watts Companies, is the largest African-American owned lobbying company in Washington, D.C. whose client base includes Fortune 500, mid-market and small businesses, professional associations, athletic organizations, colleges and universities, health care providers, foreign governments, and non-profit organizations.

A native of Oklahoma, J.C. attended the University of Oklahoma, where he was the quarterback for the Sooners. He led his team to two consecutive Big Eight Championships and Orange Bowl victories and was voted Most Valuable Player in the ’80 and ’81 Orange Bowls.

JC WattsIn 1994, J.C. was elected to the U.S. Congress.  Four years later, he was elected to serve as chairman of the Republican Conference, the fourth-ranking leadership position in the majority party in the U.S. House of Representatives.  While a member of Congress, J.C. served for eight years on the House Armed Services Committee.  In addition, he authored legislation to create (and later served on) the House Select Committee on Homeland Security.  He also authored President Bush’s faith-based initiative, the Community Solutions Act of 2001.  Mr. Watts, along with Congressman John Lewis, developed legislation to establish a Smithsonian museum of African American history.

J.C. is the co-founder of the Coalition for AIDS Relief in Africa and serves of the board of Africare.  In addition, Mr. Watts serves on the boards of the Boy Scouts of America and the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.  In addition, J.C. has created the J.C. and Frankie Watts Foundation, which focuses on urban renewal and other charitable initiatives.
